Forest Road 41

For the February 2018 Zuks of Arizona monthly run we followed the FR 41 in New River right off of Table Mesa Road to Seven Springs. Forest Road 41 was in a fairly good shape, it looked like it was recently maintained. After stopping by the giant rock formation off of Forest Road 41, we then proceeded to try a new trail Road 17 to Carefree Overlook.

Here’s a 360 photo we took at the rock formation:

Seven Springs Road 17

The first mile or two of Road 17 was a pretty descend graded road, but as we passed the “Primitive Road, not suitable for public use sign” it meant just that. The climb up was loose rock shelf road, and as we passed Little Grapevine Tank, New River Tank, Mesa Tank and finally approached Big Tank we were down to a crawl because of how bad of a shape Road 17 was.
Our puppy didn't enjoy the crawl down Road 17Our friends didn't enjoy the rocky road 17 either
The scenic overlook of Carefree/Cave Creek was just west of the Big Tank, it was worth seeing it once, but I don’t think we’ll be heading back there again unless the road drastically improves.

Here’s a 360 photo we took at the Carefree/Cave Creek overview:

Humboldt Mountain

After checking out the Carefree/Cave Creek overview we headed towards Seven Springs and then finally Humboldt Mountain where you can see Horseshoe Lake and Bartlett lake in the distance, along with a close up view of the forest service lookout tower and the Air Force/FAA Southern Air Defense System radar tower that looks like a giant golf ball.
